Inspired by antique botanical studies and illuminated manuscripts, the Shabbat Triptych is a set of three prints celebrating the three traditional Hebrew blessings that welcome Shabbat: the blessings over the candles (Hadlakat Ner), wine (Kiddush), and bread (HaMotzi). Each panel centers one sacred ritual object, presented with the care and precision of a centuries-old botanical illustration.
The warm, aged palette and restrained use of color evoke the feeling of a treasured manuscript passed from one generation to the next. Real botanical Latin names accompany the grapevine (Vitis Vinifera, for the wine) and wheat (Triticum Aestivum, for the bread), while Lumen Sabbati ("Light of the Sabbath") was created especially for the candle blessing, bridging the worlds of science and sacred tradition.
